It looks like former President Barack Obama is talking about one of the country’s best-loved conspiracy theories again.
In a new podcast interview, Obama makes a joke about aliens being “real” but not in the manner that many people would like them to be. Obama sat down for a wide-ranging conversation with political commentator Brian Tyler Cohen.
During the discussion, the former U.S. President was asked directly about aliens. Obama responded that they’re “real” but that he “hasn’t seen” them.
Obama immediately went on to clarify that no aliens are being held in the top-secret U.S. Air Force base in Nevada known as Area 51.
“There’s no underground facility, unless there’s this enormous conspiracy, and they hid it from the president of the United States,” Obama said. The conversation was lighthearted and casual.
Obama was then asked by the commentator which question he hoped to answer when he first became President. Obama smiled before answering the question. “Where are the aliens?” Obama said.
This is not the first time Obama has made a joke about the public’s interest in unidentified flying objects and aliens.
The Obama administration declassified and made public information about unidentified aerial phenomena from 2009 to 2017.
