McDonald’s announced a new treat in time for Valentine’s Day. The fast-food company launched McNugget Caviar kits in reference to the food pairing that went viral after Rihanna recorded herself trying it in 2024. Here’s everything to know about McDonald’s latest launch that quickly sold out online.
What are McDonald’s McNugget Caviar kits?
On Feb. 2, McDonald’s announced the Tuesday launch of McNugget Caviar kits. The limited-edition treat was available to order for free and exclusively online on a dedicated website. The kits quickly sold out after the offer went live at 11 a.m. EST.
“Unfortunately, our McNugget Caviar was everyone’s Valentine this year, and has flown off the shelves,” the company wrote on its website.
It is unknown if McDonald’s, in collaboration with Paramount Caviar, will release more kits in the future.
Each kit features a one-ounce tin of Baerii Sturgeon caviar, which the food chain referred to as its McNugget Caviar in a release, crème fraiche, a Mother of Pearl caviar spoon and a $25 gift card to purchase Chicken McNuggets.
Nuggets and caviar pairing has gone viral in recent years
The food pairing went viral shortly after Rihanna posted a video of herself trying the combination on social media.
In an Instagram post shared in December 2024, she topped chicken nuggets with caviar alongside Fenty Corp. executive vice president Jennifer Rosales.
“You have your broke friend bring the nuggets,” Rihanna said.
“Then you have your rich friend bring the caviar,” Rosales added.
Shortly after, influencers started recreating the food pairing and posting their reactions online. Restaurants saw a business opportunity, which inflated the trend even more. New York Korean-inspired fried chicken restaurant COQODAQ sold the pairing at the 2025 U.S. Open, according to USA Today. It sold six chicken nuggets topped with Petrossian caviar, crème fraiche and chives at the tennis championship for $100.
