Olympic track star Sha’Carri Richardson, 25, was arrested Thursday in Florida for driving over 100 mph, which is more than the state’s speeding limit.

What was Sha-Carri Richardson charged with?

The Olympic gold medalist was pulled over and arrested by Orange County deputies after she was caught speeding at 104 mph on State Road 429 near Stoneybrook Parkway, according to booking records and WESH.

Deputies said Richardson was “dangerously tailgating” and swerving across lanes while passing other motorists on the road, per WESH.

Richardson was booked into the Orange County Jail on a second-degree misdemeanor charge for dangerous excessive speeding at 100 mph or more. She posted a $500 bond and has since been released from jail, per booking records and WESH.

Details on Richardson’s arrest in August over a domestic violence dispute

The “fastest woman in the world” has had other recent legal encounters, including an August arrest on a fourth-degree domestic violence charge at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport following an alleged altercation with her boyfriend, fellow sprinter Christian Coleman, Blavity reported.

According to police, Richardson was arguing with Coleman at a TSA checkpoint when she was seen grabbing his backpack and throwing it. She then blocked his path as he attempted to walk around her and appeared to push him into a wall, TMZ reported at the time.

She was arrested and booked into the South Correctional Entity in Des Moines, Washington, that Sunday evening and released the following day.

Police said Coleman did not want to be part of any investigation and declined to press charges against her.

Richardson to Coleman: ‘I can’t apologize enough’

Nearly two weeks later, Richardson shared an Instagram Story, reflecting on her past actions and seeking help. “I’m taking this time to not only see myself but get myself a certain level of help that overall is going to reflect who I truly am in my heart and my spirit and not allowing this moment — but accepting this moment — to be more,” she said in the video, per Blavity.

She also apologized to Coleman, stating that her past played a role in how she behaved during that incident.

“I apologize to Christian. He came into my life and gave me more than a relationship but a greater understanding of unconditional love from what I’ve experienced in my past,” she said, according to Field Level Media and Blavity. “Due to my past trauma and pain, I was blind and blocked off to not only receive it but give it. I love him and to him I can’t apologize enough.”
