Quinn Gray’s announces Florida A&M coaching staff additions ahead of 2026 season

In addition to the announcement of their 2026 football schedule, Florida A&M Rattlers’ head coach Quinn Gray has also announced some of the personnel added to his coaching staff.

The most notable addition is defensive coordinator Ryan Lewis, who most will remember from his time in a similar role at Alabama State from 2022 to 2024.

In his three seasons as DC at Bama State, Lewis helped guide a Hornets defensive unit that finished in the top two in scoring defense each year (led conference twice), finishing second in the country in 2023.

Previous stops also include the Miami Dolphins, his alma mater Bethune-Cookman, Edward Waters, and, most recently, the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Another key addition to the FAMU coaching staff with ties to Alabama State is former star defensive back Mikey Victor, who will serve as the Defensive Quality Control coach.

Victor played two seasons (2022-2023) with the Hornets after transferring from UNLV, being named to the All-SWAC Second Team in 2023.

He compiled 55 total tackles (46 solo tackles), three interceptions, 18 pass breakups, and a fumble recovery in 19 career games with Bama State.

The All-SWAC defender was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New England Patriots after the 2024 NFL Draft, being released soon after. He was briefly signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers the following year but was once again cut.

Assuming the role Offensive Coordinator Nicholas Sewak, one of two coaches making the transition from Albany State to FAMU with Coach Gray.

Sewak was initially hired to join Albany State as an Offensive Line coach in 2024 before being promoted to Associate Head Coach (in addition to being the O-Line coach and Run Game Coordinator) the following year.

In a historic 2025 campaign, the Golden Rams led the SIAC in rushing (192.4) while ranking seventh in Division II in rushing touchdowns (34).

His nine-year coaching career includes stints with Georgia Southern, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Tennessee, Memphis, and Duke.

Also joining the Florida A&M coaching staff from Albany State is Christopher Cash, who will serve as a Safeties and Nickels coach with the Rattlers.

Cash held the position of Defensive Coordinator with the Golden Rams for each of the past four seasons under Coach Gray.

He helped guide an ASU defensive unit that tied for second in the country in scoring defense (14.1) and ranked second in takeaways (33).

Holdovers from last year’s Florida A&M coaching staff are Andre Pope (Defensive Pass Game Coordinator), David Eggleston (Recruiting Grad Assistant), and Orlando McKinley (Defensive Analyst/Special Teams Coach).

Rounding out the Rattlers’ coaching staff are Elijah Haggard (Offensive Line Coach/Special Teams Coordinator), Ron Dugans (Wide Receivers Coach), Dahan Mixon (Defensive Ends Coach), Casey Warming (Tight Ends Coach/Recruiting Coordinator), and Brenden Deanda (Offensive Assistant).

Coach Gray alluded to more announcements in relation to coaching staff hires are coming soon.
