Deion Sanders once again landed a SWAC recruit from the transfer portal.
Sanders and Colorado have added Grambling State transfer Josh McCormick. In 2025, McCormick connected on 6 of 10 field goals, including a season-long 51-yarder, and converted 87.5% of his extra points for the Tigers.
While the numbers may not stand out statistically, McCormick’s leg strength and composure under pressure have drawn attention.
His season highlight came against Sanders’ former team, Jackson State, when he nailed a 44-yard game-winner to seal a dramatic victory.

Before his season at Grambling, McCormick redshirted at Oregon State, appearing briefly in 2022 with a kickoff against Colorado. He also spent time at William & Mary, where he served primarily as a kickoff specialist, logging 34 touchbacks and a tackle during his stint with the Tribe.
McCormick will look to replace Alejandro Mata, the one-time Jackson State kicker, who followed Sanders to Colorado after the 2022 season.
Sanders will hope McCormick —- another SWAC kicker — can stabilize Colorado’s kicking game heading into the 2026 season.
