Just two days after the Albany State Golden Rams’ historic 2025 football season came to an end in the Division II Playoffs, major changes could be coming following an announcement from one of their star players.
Albany State quarterback and 2025 SIAC Offensive Player of the Year Isaiah Knowles has announced that he is entering the transfer portal with one year of eligibility remaining.
In 26 career games, Knowles recorded 5,585 passing yards on 63% completions, scoring 60 touchdowns to 17 interceptions. He also rushed for 577 yards and 11 touchdowns.
He helped lead the Golden Rams to two SIAC championship games, claiming the title this season for the first time in 2021.
Despite being named SIAC Offensive Player of the Year, his 2025 campaign was marred by injury, as he was forced to miss four total games.
This included missing the Golden Rams’ Regional Final playoff game against Newberry on Saturday due to a reported lower leg injury, falling short of the National Semifinal in a 31-24 loss
Albany State’s season came to an end with an overall record of 12-2, setting a new school mark for wins in a single year.
Knowles is already reported to have received offers from Jackson State and Howard since making his portal announcement.
