If Delaware State’s football team is going to win their fourth game in a row, they will have to do it without starting quarterback Kaiden Bennett.
Bennett, the grad student transfer from Sacramento State scored his eighth rushing touchdown of the year to give the visiting Hornets a 14-10 lead over Sacred Heart when officials ejected him for excessive celebration. Bennett was high-fiving fans after a touchdown and officials threw a flag for that as well as not handing an official the ball after the score.
Junior quarterback Jayden Sauray has taken Bennett’s place and led the Hornets to another touchdown drive. They lead the Pioneers 21-10 with 9 minutes left in the second quarter as of publication.
