Delaware State welcomes new quarterback to football program

Upon the news of starting quarterback Marqui Adams entering the transfer portal, Delaware State has moved quickly to add to their quarterback room.

Kaiden Bennett, who led Sacramento State to an FCS playoff win in 2023, has transferred to DSU, according to Zach McKinnell of FCS Football Central.

Bennett completed 184 of 286 passes for 2,190 yards and 16 touchdowns and rushed for 564 yards on 131 carries in leading Sac State to an 8-5 record in 2023. That season featured a 30-23 upset win at FBS Stanford and a 42-35 first round win over North Dakota in the FCS playoffs.

Bennett likely moves to the front of the line to become DeSean Jackson’s starting quarterback when the Hornets visit in-state rival – and newly minted FBS program – University of Delaware Thursday Aug. 28.
