HBCU football team loses starting quarterback a month before the season begins

Another HBCU football team has been hit by the transfer portal bug, just a month before the season is set to begin.

Marqui Adams, Delaware State’s starting quarterback each of the last two seasons, announced Friday night that he is entering the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining.

Adams, a Philadelphia, PA native, played in 19 games over the course of three seasons for Delaware State, completing 213 of 368 pass attempts for 2576 yards and 16 touchdowns against 12 interceptions. He also rushed 521 yards and four touchdowns.

The Hornets’ quarterback room now contains redshirt senior C.J. Henry and sophomores Mikal Davis and Jaden Stewart.
