Andrew Body is healthy. Eddie Robinson Jr. can’t wait to see high-level QB play

Eddie Robinson Jr. has clarity at quarterback for the first time since Alabama State played in the Orange Blossom Classic a year ago.

That assurance is tied to the health of Andrew Body, the highly regarded quarterback who only appeared in one game last season before being lost to injury.

Alabama State coach Eddie Robinson Jr., who played four different quarterbacks throughout the 2024 season after Body suffered a shoulder injury against North Carolina Central, said the second-year transfer is healthy and ready to contribute.

The transfer from Texas Southern ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns before being hurt on the Hornets’ final drive against the Eagles.

“He’s out there competing,” Robinson said at SWAC Media Day about Body, who has been medically cleared for football activities and has participated in summer workouts with the team. ” That kid has been through a lot physically and mentally. I’m looking forward to him just for his psyche to get out there for him and his family — to watch him play the game that he loves.”

While excited that Body is set to play, Robinson explained that the veteran will be part of a quarterback competition involving sophomore Zach Sims and redshirt sophomore Braylen Ragland when fall camp begins in a few weeks.

“We are looking forward to him (Body) getting back out there and playing at a high level,” said Robinson.
