Mississippi Valley State has a new athletic director, one with significant HBCU experience.
Alecia Shields Gadson, who previously served as Delaware State’s athletic director, was named to that same post in Itta Bena on Monday. Following her departure from DSU this past December, she served as deputy athletic director at Alcorn State.
“I want to first thank President Dr. Jerryl Briggs, along with the search committee, for entrusting me with this opportunity to guide Mississippi Valley State University on the path to success as we begin the journey of blazing our own path,” Shields Gadson said in a statement released by the university.
