Fans react to Lana teaser before release date

This is not the first time SZA has teased the new album. Last week, she shared a video to celebrate SOS‘s second anniversary; in the video, she walks through a wooded area at night near a creek. The St. Louis native then pulls her pants down, sits in a squatting position, pulls out a tissue and pretends to wipe herself. She then pulls her pants back up and walks away as a subtle announcement about Lana appears on screen.

There was a mixture of reactions in the comments section, as some fans doubted SZA, claiming that the video was just another distraction to delay the new project further. Meanwhile, others were excited to get new music from the Grammy-winning artist, with one user pointing out that SZA loves to drop new music in December. She released SOS on Dec. 9, 2022.

It’s like a whole new project’

Since releasing SOS, SZA has talked about the deluxe version and shared details about the project with Variety in August 2023.[Lana] is outtakes [from SOS] and new stuff, too — I added a couple of songs. It’s like a whole new project” SZA, whose legal name is Solána Rowe, told the outlet. “It’s called Lana — my name but, it’s the first tattoo that I ever got, when I was 13. It was 10 bucks a letter and I only had 40, so that that became my nickname for no reason. Lana is really just the B-side of SOS.”

As Blavity reported, SZA and rapper Kendrick Lamar announced their Grand National Tour in early December, with stadium stops in Atlanta, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Charlotte and more. She can also be heard on “Luther” and “Gloria,” two tracks from K. Dot’s new album GNX, which was released in late November.

The tour also gives SZA the perfect opportunity to share new music from the album with her fans.
