Cory Kenshin, the popular YouTuber also known as CoryxKenshin, is coming back to the platform with a a new manga series. As he returned to YouTube after a year-long break, Kenshin said his new Monsters We Make series is a sci-fi thriller featuring a battle between humans and aliens. The rising star shared a trailer of his new series over the weekend, then posted the project on his website for fans to purchase.
“I hope you’ve been well over this long period of us not seeing each other,” Kenshin said in his video. “Except for at the zoo. More on that later. Praise God, it is good to finally be back.”
Kenshin, who is well-known for his “Spooky Scary Sunday” gaming series and other creations, has gained 20 million subscribers on YouTube. As he continued to gain fame on the internet, Kenshin earned a role in the film Five Nights at Freddy’s in 2023, Complex reported.
While many fans were worried that he may never come back to YouTube, they now feel relieved to see him back on the internet.
The synopsis for Kenshin’s newest project reveals that the story features a character named Jabari Booker, an aspiring musician who somehow finds himself in a battle with monsters while chasing his dreams.
“Jabari Booker, a 17-year-old gifted musician, enters New Edyn Academy expecting to refine his talents,” the summary states, per Anime Corner. “Instead, he’s plunged into a waking nightmare. The academy, a supposed sanctuary for students born during The Eternal Night, is training its students for a more sinister purpose—killing monsters. Citizens, including his classmates, are mutating into vicious creatures, twisted by the dark secrets of SANADA, a global tech giant pulling the strings.”
In a follow-up video he posted on Monday, Kenshin said he will sign the first 777 copies he sells. He also said he’s offering free shipping for a limited time.
The main object of his creation, according to Kenshin, is to tell a story “that is rich, original as can be, that is thought-provoking and that is positive.”
“Story to me is the skeleton,” he said. “You can have the rawest action scenes, you can have the most fire visuals, you can have the cleanest music, the nicest sound effects . . . if you have all those things and your story is trash . . . all that stuff is ancillary compared to the story.”
Kenshin added that he’s determined to get his creation accepted by an animation studio.
“Netflix, Crunchyroll, MAPPA, I’m looking at you,” he said. “Whoever wants to come put in their bids, do it early.”
